Originally built in 1876, Briarhurst Manor Estate in Manitou Springs, CO, is an iconic property constructed from finely grained pink sandstone and set within a landscape inspired by the English countryside. This adaptive reuse project reimagines the estate as a boutique wedding venue, complemented by exclusive residential development along Fountain Creek—just blocks from downtown Manitou Springs.
The final concept plan features a redesigned formal lawn and a creekside event space as well as sufficient parking lot layout for Briarhurst weddings, alongside eight custom home sites positioned for premium frontage along the creek. Walls Planning + Design conducted a thorough zoning and code analysis, leveraging opportunities within the Gateway Mixed-Use district and the city’s Adaptive Reuse & Historic Preservation policies. Our expertise ensured a seamless integration of historic character with modern development potential, enhancing both the estate’s legacy and long-term value.
